The Tucson Kart
Club (TKC) is a not for profit organization that has promoted
family oriented kart racing for over 40 years. The goal
of the club is to provide a safe and friendly environment
for racing karts. Our objective is to inspire good sportsmanship,
promote fair competition, and provide a quality racing
facility. TKC firmly believes that families that race
together give their children a positive direction which
keeps them off the streets and out of trouble.
The Tucson Kart
Speedway is one of the fastest 1/5 mile tracks in the
country. The track has a "paper-clip" layout
with approximately 225 foot straight-away's and 100 foot
radius turns. The track surface consists mainly of local
soil with some clay and other materials added for grip
and consistency. The track is located on the Pima County
Fairgrounds on Dawn Road just west of Houghton Road.
The club operates
under International Karting Federation (IKF) rules. Our
main focus is on safety; karts, children and adults are
not permitted on the track without officials first checking
the driver safety gear for compliance and a vigorous kart
inspection as well. TKC has always had certified EMT personnel
and an ambulance onsite as required.
The Tucson Kart
Club season runs from February to September. There are
13 regular club races with a national event scheduled
for Thanksgiving weekend. The club conducts a season points
program for its members and concludes the season with
a fun-filled year-end championship awards banquet. Our
members enjoy receiving their trophies and prizes for
accomplishments such as Rookie of the Year, Sportsmanship
and of course Track Champions in each division.
TKC is exclusively
operated by volunteers. Board members are nominated and
voted in by the club members. The board meets on a regular
basis and holds general meetings for the club members.
TKC's sources of
income are generated from membership dues and weekly race
entry fees and race fan seating. We also generate some
income from selling advertisements on billboards located
at the track. WE strive to make improvements to the facility
to better serve out members.
TKC is actively
seeking major sponsorships similar to other racing organizations
like NASCAR and NHRA except on a much lesser scale. We
can offer the same type of sponsor packages.
TKC would appreciate
